The new Alteo electricity storage facility in Győr has been put into operation.

The new Alteo electricity storage facility with a capacity of approximately 100 megawatt hours (MWh) has been handed over in Győr. The newly commissioned energy storage facility accounts for approximately one-fifth of Hungary's total installed storage capacity, according to a statement by MTI referring to the announcement by Alteo.

They worked at three locations simultaneously.

Three subsidiaries of Alteo have been awarded funding for the construction of a lithium-ion electricity storage facility under the RRF-6.5.1-23 tender announced as part of Hungary's Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRF).

The greenfield investment was implemented at three locations, with a total cost of HUF 18 billion, of which HUF 6 billion was grant funding.

The most significant element of the investment is the 49.9 megawatt (MW) nominal power and 99.8 MWh nominal capacity electricity storage facility commissioned in the Győr industrial park, which was built at a cost of approximately 12.9 billion forints.

The new unit accounts for one-fifth of domestic output

They added that the newly commissioned energy storage facility, which accounts for approximately one-fifth of Hungary's total storage capacity, will be connected to the Alteo Control Centre during the maintenance period, strengthening the security of electricity supply and the efficient integration of weather-dependent producers into the electricity system.

Attila Chikán Jr., Chairman and CEO of Alteo, emphasised that the company was the first in the region to commission an industrial-scale energy storage facility in 2018, and with the units handed over this year, their storage capacity will reach 90 MW.
