A section of a busy road in the foothills of the Bakony is rebuilt on a new route

The public procurement tender for the implementation of the project was closed at the end of August . The company that submitted the best bid, STRABAG Általános Építő Kft., took over the work site at the beginning of September and began implementation of the project in the first phase of the renovation on the section bordered by Jókai, Csernyei and Honvéd streets.

The road will follow a new route

The municipality is using EU funding to upgrade its internal roads. The road between Csernyei Street and Honvéd Street will be rebuilt on a new route. The old section will be used in the future as a service road for car parks.

They also make pedestrian traffic safer

On this new section, the contractor will build not only a road but also a street lighting network, according to the tender. On the section of Árpád út bordered by Jókai and Rákóczi streets, the wearing course will be removed and a new asphalt pavement will be laid.

The parking lots and sidewalks in the area will be paved with paving stones. Pedestrian traffic will be made safer with the construction of new crossings. The drinking water mains will also be upgraded in the section to be renovated.

Work will cover more than 7000 square metres

The project will involve the resurfacing of 5,100 square metres of asphalt roads and the construction of a new roadway. Nearly 2,300 square metres of parking areas and pavements will be paved with paving stones. In addition, eight new lighting fixtures will be installed together with the necessary equipment.

The road will be closed in sections during the renovation

With a residential area on one side of Árpád Street, the project will also alleviate parking problems for residents and provide easier access to nearby educational institutions and Thury György Square. Due to the characteristics of the area, it will not be possible to close the section of the road to be built at the same time. Temporary parking will be provided during the works.
