Local governments can apply for 20 billion forints, with the deadline for submission falling between mid-January and mid-February.

Villages can apply for two new tenders with a total budget of 20 billion forints for the renovation of their public areas and properties, announced Gyopáros Alpár, government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements, in a video posted on his Facebook page on Monday.

„No sooner had we announced the results of our tender for the modernisation of public lighting than we announced new tenders for Hungarian villages under the Hungarian Village Programme. What's more, there are two of them, with a total budget of 20 billion,” said the government commissioner.

Streets, pavements, car parks

One of them is the well-known municipal tender for the construction and renovation of streets and pavements, he said, among other things.

What is new is that villages can independently apply for funding for the cleaning, renovation and maintenance of drainage ditches, as well as for the construction of car parks and the modernisation of gateways.

- he added.

The amount of support is also increasing: HUF 60 million is available for streets and drainage ditches, HUF 15 million for pavement renovation and HUF 30 million for the construction of car parks.

Clinics, nurseries, libraries

Another call for proposals offers opportunities for the development of municipal properties and the purchase of equipment. This includes the renovation of municipal buildings such as medical clinics, kindergartens, cultural centres, village halls and libraries. This includes the purchase of vehicles for village and community caretakers, which will be supplemented this year by field guard services. Within the framework of this call for proposals, applications can also be submitted for the renovation of existing playgrounds and the construction of new playgrounds, as well as for the renovation of cemetery infrastructure, such as mortuaries, the government commissioner said.

Applications may be submitted between 15 January and 16 February. Further details are available at magyarfalu.hu.
