The Alteo solar power plant in Nógrád will produce enough energy for ten thousand households

A new solar power plant is being built in Nógrád County by Alteo is building a new solar power plant in Nógrád County, doubling the energy provider's own solar power plant portfolio with a development capable of covering the electricity needs of more than 10,000 households, exceeding EUR 17 million (currently approximately HUF 6.35 billion at average value) , announced Alteo Nyrt on 6 July.

Construction starts in September

After the completion of the construction, which is expected to start in September, the Alteo 20 MWe solar power plant in Tereske, Nógrád County, is expected to start producing electricity from the second half of 2024.

Alteo acquired Edelyn Solar's Kft solar power plant development project in 2022. In May this year, the company informed investors that it had achieved development-ready status and now the Alteo board has approved the plans for construction. The self-financed development will be capable of generating 31 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity per year.

A multi-environmental project

The statement quoted Mr. Attila Chikán, CEO of Alteo, who said:

The project is also of particular importance from a sustainability point of view, as it is entirely solar-powered, unlike fossil fuels, so there are no emissions and no need for drinking water during the plant's planned lifetime of 25-30 years.

The reversible design of the plant also serves sustainability: at the end of its useful life, the entire infrastructure can be removed and the land occupied can be reused for agriculture.
