Greenfield investment to establish a Smart Industry Science and Innovation Park in Kaposvár
The concept of the Kaposvár Smart Industrial Science and Innovation Park was finalised and presented. The elaboration of the implementation plans can start soon.
Kaposvár would implement the Science Park together with the University of Óbuda. The cooperation between the two parties is not new. The higher education institution has already launched the basic course in electrical engineering as an outsourced course in the city.
The park, which will be implemented through a greenfield investment, will focus on research and innovation in the fields of bonding technology, metalworking and the recycling of polluting materials.
Three innovation parks included in the development programme of Óbuda University
Finance Minister Mihály Varga said at a press conference held at the site of the future Science and Innovation Park that the government supports value-added developments by universities. To this end, the institutions will be given as much autonomy as possible and resources will be allocated to the programmes planned.
Óbuda University's development programme includes three science innovation parks. Levente Kovács, Rector of Óbuda University, has already spoken about this,
Future industry development is planned in Zsámbék, mechatronics in Székesfehérvár, and smart industry development in Kaposvár, with a HUF 15 billion investment in the latter location.
Károly Szita, Mayor of Kaposvár, said that the county seat is striving to become one of the ten most developed cities in the country. To this end, they have launched a reindustrialisation programme based on the engineering industry and the food economy. The park's first investor, as previously reported by our portal, will be the German defence industry company DND GmbH.
