State Secretary Miklós Soltész reported that the 500th anniversary of the Battle of 1526, which was a turning point in the history of the Hungarian nation, is being accompanied or preceded by a number of investments and developments - with significant state support.

Referring to a government decision published a few weeks ago, the State Secretary said that by the 2026 anniversary, the Baroque-style parish church of St Michael in the city centre, built between 1776 and 1770, the arcade of the Conventual Church in the city's main square, as well as the Battlefield Memorial Chapel and Calvary will be renewed with half a billion forints, among other things.
