Sight plan
The deadline for the modernisation of the building, inaugurated in 1786, is June 2026.

This year, Hargita County Council will begin renovating the building known as Lábasház, which houses the ear, nose and throat and physiotherapy departments of the Csíkszereda County Emergency Hospital – writes Hargita Népe. In Hargita County, located in the Székely Land region of Romania, construction work worth more than 5 million lei (more than 400 million forints) is set to begin soon, during which the institution will undergo energy renovation.

As it is a listed building, its renovation requires careful planning. They are currently working on this task and will then obtain the necessary permits to start the works," the press service of the county council said.

No need for doctors, nurses and patients to move out

The work on the building, located in the immediate vicinity of the Miercurea Ciuc Town Hall, is being financed by the EU-funded National Restoration Plan (PNRR) and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2016. According to earlier information, the ear, nose and throat department will not move out of the building during the construction work, but will continue to operate as usual thanks to some reorganisation.

Szekler officers had a home, a furniture factory and a family home

The construction of the classicist-style Lábasháza in Chisinau was completed in 1786, and it was used for military purposes for a longer period: it was the headquarters of the officers of the 1st Szekler Frontier Regiment. Afterwards, it was used as a court of law, which took possession of the building after the reorganization of 1867-68, when the county of Chisinau was established.

Between 1904 and 1921 it was a furniture factory, then a private residence, and from 1942 it was used as a home for parents. The east wing was extended in 1942, and there were several changes of function and ownership in the history of the Leg House before it became a hospital building.
