A contract has been signed for the design of a new railway loading facility and associated infrastructure by Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium and RODEN Mérnöki Iroda Kft. Under the contract, worth nearly 294 million forints, the company will prepare the necessary planning and construction documentation for the new loading facility next to Tata railway station, as well as carry out the associated planning tasks – as stated on TED.

A major rail and road development project is underway in Tata

The project is linked to Railway Line 1, and one of its main objectives is to enable the handling of rail traffic with an axle load of 225 kN.

According to the plans, a new loading bay covering approximately 4,200 square metres is to be built next to Tata railway station; together with the associated loading ramp, this will cover an area of nearly 9,000 square metres. As part of the project, two rail tracks—each 300 metres long and without overhead lines—will also be designed.

The project also includes a new artwork and a pedestrian underpass

One of the most complex elements of the development is the design of a new structure on the embankment of Main Road No. 1. In addition to the existing grade-separated rail-road junction, plans are in place to construct a new underpass and an overpass with a minimum design load capacity of 80 tonnes.

As part of the project

  • a new level crossing will also be built alongside the tracks,
  • amend the railway signalling system,
  • and are also planning developments linked to the KÖFI (Central Traffic Management) system currently under development.

The surrounding road network is also being upgraded

The project will not only affect the railway infrastructure but also the surrounding transport links. Plans include upgrading the „military road” to a stabilised dirt track over a length of approximately 550 metres, as well as reviewing the entire section of Honvéd Street in front of the barracks and, if necessary, resurfacing it with a hard surface.

In addition, plans are being drawn up for the development of a 2,570-square-metre car park.

The documentation is produced using a BIM-based design

The planning and construction drawings are produced using a Building Information Modelling (BIM) system (BIM). The scope of the contract includes carrying out the tasks required for the environmental impact assessment, as well as managing the entire planning process.
