As projects become increasingly complex, it is necessary to coordinate the work of as many as 15–20 different specialist fields, ranging from building services engineering and automation, through energy systems, to digitalisation and operations. In the case of a development project costing tens of billions of forints, even a few days’ worth of coordination errors can result in significant additional costs, the rescheduling of resources and delays to deadlines.

All of this adds value to models that bring together design, engineering, construction and operational expertise within a single organisation, ensuring that the entire project remains under one roof. The operations of SMC Group are also based on this approach. With an annual turnover of 25 billion forints, this Hungarian-owned group of eight member companies covers the entire spectrum of the construction industry value chain, delivering faster, more predictable and lower-risk projects through an integrated operating model.

New leaders are charting a course

To further strengthen the group’s operational capabilities, from 1 July 2026, Gábor Tárnoki will head the subsidiary SMC Group, which specialises in the design and turnkey installation of complex building services systems, Econix Zrt.. His appointment is a key element of the group’s 2030 strategy, which aims to further develop operations covering the entire value chain and to strengthen the group’s long-term market position.

„A complex investment is like a well-designed structure: every element has its own role, but it only creates real value when the whole system operates in a coordinated manner. That is why our subsidiary companies are led by managers who are not only outstanding professionals, but are also capable of putting this approach into practice.” – said Péter Rádi, one of the owners of SMC Group.

This professional, with over 25 years" professional experience and 10 years in senior management, comes from the technical organisation of Richter Gedeon’s technical organisation, where he was responsible for the implementation of domestic and international greenfield investments worth several billion forints, as well as for the management of complex technical organisations. His strategic thinking, systems-based approach, experience in organisational development and expertise in managing complex infrastructure projects will all contribute to Econix’s continued growth.

„As a leader, I believe that integrity, transparency and consistency are the values upon which strong teams and long-term partnerships can be built. At Econix, I want to build on our solid foundations to create a professional community that, by relying on cooperation, high quality and continuous development, creates value for both our partners and our employees,” said Gábor Tárnoki, CEO of Econix.

With this management appointment, SMC Group has reached an important milestone in its next phase of growth, the aim of which is to further strengthen its position in the domestic construction, building services engineering and industrial technology markets by building on its integrated operations.
