STRABAG has acquired a bridge and utilities construction company in Romania

The company has expanded its portfolio in Eastern Romania by acquiring a firm specialising in the construction of bridges, utilities and road infrastructure.

A company specialising in the construction of bridges, utilities and road infrastructure has been acquired by STRABAG in Romania. Daroconstruct SRL, based in Iași and employing 355 people, recorded a net profit of 77.139 million lei (approximately 22 billion forints) and a net profit of 77.139 million lei (approximately 5.2 billion forints).

They rely on strong local teams

Daroconstruct has established a strong position for itself in Eastern Romania, thanks to the quality of its work and the commitment of its employees,” said Herbert Schuster, Head of Strategic Integration at Strabag Romania.
Daroconstruct is now the second Romanian construction company to be acquired by STRABAG this year.

 

STRABAG has also expanded its portfolio in Romania to include a railway construction company

The contract was signed in June, under which the Austrian company acquired the entire shareholding in Bawi Construction SRL. Bawi, registered in Bucharest, was majority-owned by the German company Willke GmbH. Bawi Construction SRL, which specialises in railway construction, had 200 employees last year and, with a turnover of 229.209 million lei (approximately 15 billion forint), achieved a net profit of 43.494 million lei (approximately 3 billion forint).

„With the acquisition of Bawi, we have gained a company with an excellent market position and a high level of technical expertise” – said Peter Glöckler, a member of the board of directors of STRABAG SE, at the time.

STRABAG has been operating on the Romanian market since 1991. STRABAG SRL, which employs more than 1,400 staff, saw its turnover stagnate in 2025, standing at 1.757 billion lei.
