Seven fully equipped healthcare facilities are being set up, all of which meet modern healthcare standards.

Children who have undergone surgery can now be cared for in a more modern environment at Heim Pál Országos Gyermekgyógyászati Intézet, where the post-operative ward is being refurbished. According to the Public Procurement Bulletin states that the healthcare institution has awarded a contract for the refurbishment of the post-operative ward on the first floor of Building „D”. The work will be carried out by RFID Magyarország Kft. at a net cost of 97 million forints.

Following the refurbishment, the ward will continue to operate a post-operative unit dedicated to the care of children who have undergone surgery. Patients here will receive sub-intensive care, meaning they will be provided with continuous monitoring and a high standard of nursing care during the critical period following their operation.

A suitable environment is particularly important during the post-operative period

The post-operative ward is one of the most important settings for the care of children who have undergone surgery. In the hours and days following surgery, continuous monitoring, rapid medical intervention and a high standard of nursing care are required; therefore, the infrastructure available here contributes directly to the safe care of patients.

The patient care unit, which covers an area of approximately 196 square metres, will continue to provide sub-intensive care following the refurbishment. As part of this,

Seven fully equipped patient care facilities are being set up, which meet modern healthcare standards.

They also take the needs of families and staff into account

As part of the development, not only will the patient wards be modernised, but facilities designed to support the work of relatives and healthcare staff will also be refurbished.

It is being produced as part of the refurbishment

  • a six-bed ward,
  • a single-bed isolation room,
  • parental residence,
  • staff kitchenette,
  • referral warehouse,
  • staff toilet,
  • as well as a bedpan-washing room and a laundry room.

Comprehensive architectural and mechanical engineering refurbishment

The project will involve a comprehensive refurbishment. New floor and wall coverings will be installed; the rooms will be painted with a chemical-resistant, washable paint across an area of nearly 750 square metres; and new partition walls and a suspended ceiling system will be fitted.

As part of the mechanical systems upgrade, the washrooms will be completely refurbished, new sanitary fittings will be installed, and the fan-coil system providing comfort cooling will also be inspected and, where necessary, upgraded.

The electrical network is also being modernised. New LED lighting is being installed, the electrical distribution system is being standardised, and a new IT and nurse-call network is being set up.

The construction work is being carried out in a way that takes account of the hospital’s ongoing operations

The works require additional organisation, as the refurbishment is taking place in a paediatric hospital that remains in operation. Tasks involving significant noise or dust generation may only be carried out in consultation with the hospital’s specialists, whilst temporary dust-free enclosures are used during several phases of the work to ensure the protection of patients and staff.
