Primary healthcare provision in Ibrány is being improved with three new surgery rooms, staff accommodation and a building powered by renewable energy.

A healthcare investment project is getting underway in Ibrány in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. As a result of the public procurement procedure, TÖMB 2002 Szolgáltató Kft. will build the new primary care centre on Tompa Mihály Street, at a net cost of 307 million forints.

As part of the development, a new building with a gross floor area of 524 square metres will be constructed. The ground floor (covering an area of 316.15 m2) will house three doctors’ surgeries, as well as mechanical and electrical rooms and a storeroom. In the attic (111.36 m2), a staff flat will be created, which may also help to attract future doctors.

The building will also be state-of-the-art in terms of energy efficiency. Solar collectors and a solar panel system will be installed, and the necessary mechanical infrastructure will also be put in place. The project is being carried out with funding from the TOP Plusz programme.

A step forward for the local community

According to the Tender Portal states that the most important outcome of the development is not the new building in itself, but the fact that primary healthcare in Ibrány can become more stable and sustainable in the long term, and that the town’s residents will be able to access adult, paediatric and dental care in a more modern environment.

This is particularly important given that, according to the local authority, providing accommodation may also help to ensure that the paediatric practice is staffed in the future. As part of the investment, there are also plans to purchase new medical equipment and furniture, which could further improve the standard of patient care.
