Towards a more stable road network – Developments can begin in Tokaj and the surrounding area

Three streets in Tokaj and a section of Hegyalja Street in Erdőbénye may be renovated in the coming period.

The public procurement procedure entitled „Development of regional infrastructure in the Tokaj district” (https://www.kozbeszerzes.hu/ertesito/2026/0/targy/portal_534/megtekint/ehr-26502026/ target="_blank" rel="noopener">public procurement procedure entitled "Development of regional infrastructure in the Tokaj District" has been completed: road renovations can begin on several streets in Tokaj and Erdőbénye. The aim of the investment is to modernise the local transport infrastructure and improve everyday transport for the population.

Three streets in Tokaj to be renovated

The local council of Tokaj issued a public tender for the Tokaj works. The winning bidder was PAPEX Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató Kft..

According to the plans, the following road sections will be renewed:

  • Bodnár Square – 132 metres,
  • Terebes Street – at 298 metres,
  • Charging station – 140 metres.

Hegyalja Street is getting ready in Erdőbénye

As part of the second phase of the development package, road renovations will also take place in Erdőbénye. The contract was awarded to ZOMBOR ÚTÉPÍTŐ Kft..

Here, a 262-metre section of Hegyalja Street is being modernised.

The proceedings in Tarcal were unsuccessful.

The third part of the public procurement would have affected several streets in Tarcal – sections of Terézia kert, Aradi utca, Hegyalja utca and Botond utca – but this procedure was deemed unsuccessful.

According to the plans, the following road sections could have been renovated:

  • Terézia Garden – 160 metres
  • Aradi Street – 140.88 metres
  • Hegyalja Street – 36.12 metres
  • Botond Street – 319 metres
