The new building at MCC in Szolnok was once home to travelling theatre companies.

The new Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) training centre in Magyar Street, Szolnok, has been handed over. In his welcoming speech, Zoltán Szalai, Director General of Mathias Corvinus Collegium, recalled:

The building of the new MCC training centre in Szolnok once served as a home for travelling theatre companies and later as an actors' house. In this regard, he said that he was confident that the boards that once represented the world of yesteryear would now serve as a springboard for young talents.

Approximately 200 young people study on site.

According to his information, nearly 200 young people are currently studying in the renovated building complex. In addition to several classrooms, the complex, which exceeds 500 square metres, also houses a language lab, a library room, an event hall and a leisure room, and, alongside new initiatives, the events previously held by MCC will also continue here. At the same time, he expressed his hope that the new centre would become „a meeting place for the heart and mind, as well as a home for spirit, culture and community” in Szolnok.

Ten years in Szolnok

Mária Kállai, Member of Parliament for the region, said at the event that talent is one of the greatest resources of the Hungarian people, and therefore we have a great responsibility and opportunity in how we treat this treasure, from its recognition to its utilisation.

He recalled that the Mathias Corvinus Collegium arrived in the city ten years ago, where it quickly found a home, enriching Szolnok and the surrounding area, first in spiritual terms and now, thanks to the recently completed development, in terms of its facilities as well.
