Hospital development begins in Gyula

The County Oncology Centre at the Kálmán Pándy Hospital in Békés County has a long history. More than seven decades ago, in 1952, a 25-bed radiotherapy ward was established within the institution. The centre provides county-wide oncology and regional radiotherapy services. The building is being modernised to improve the conditions of care. FUTIZO Kft. has won the public procurement tender for the development of the County Oncology Centre at Békés County Central Hospital – according to the results announcement. The net value of the project, to be carried out on Semmelweis Street in Gyula, is approximately 969 million forints.

The interior layout is being redesigned

According to the notice, staff from the company commissioned to carry out the work will remove the suspended ceilings, floor and wall coverings, and the obsolete mechanical, electrical and medical technology systems in the flat-roofed building, which comprises a multi-storey section with an integrated upper level and plant floor. The area affected by the works exceeds 1,530 square metres.
Following the demolition, new partition walls, doors and windows, floor and wall coverings, and suspended ceilings will be installed. The external doors and windows will also be replaced, and retrofit thermal insulation will be fitted to the façade. The works include the installation of a new sunshade structure on the southern side of the centre. 

The laboratory will be equipped with specialised ventilation systems

Once the development is complete, the work of the oncology centre’s staff and the care of patients will be supported by new water supply, drainage, heating, cooling and ventilation systems. In the refurbished communal areas, the new equipment will ensure a controlled temperature for patients awaiting examinations and treatment.
As part of the comprehensive modernisation, a high-cleanliness-grade ventilation system and an uninterruptible power supply will be installed in the building to support the operation of the so-called CATO laboratory. In addition, new oxygen and vacuum connection points will be installed in the medical gas network.
The development also includes the installation of a new lift with a load capacity of 1,600 kilograms.

The operation is also supported through the use of renewable energy

The contractor’s tasks include modernising the entire electrical network, as well as installing new LED lighting, an IT and telephone network, a nurse call system, a CCTV network and an integrated patient flow management system. A 40.5 kWp solar panel system will be installed on the south-facing side of the flat roof.
