More modern transport links and new bus stops are being built in Újpest
Spectacular progress has been made on the renovation of István út and Pozsonyi utca.
Spectacular progress has been made on the refurbishment of István út and Pozsonyi utca. Gellért Timár, the chief site manager of HE-DO, provided an update on the company’s website. He explained that the project will be carried out in four phases, covering the entire affected sections of István út and Pozsonyi utca, with the reconstruction of the Tél utca junction being handled separately.
As we previously reported, the section between Madridi Street and Tél Street was refurbished during the first phase. The outer traffic lanes and the binder and wearing courses of the pavements are now complete, and the pavement construction work has been finished. The final stages of asphalting are currently underway in the inner lanes, whilst the landscaping of the green areas has also been completed. A new pedestrian crossing, as well as modern bus stops and bus bays, have also been installed along this section.
Public transport also stands to benefit from the development
During the second phase, work on the section between Tél Street and Árpád Road included the completion of the outer traffic lane, the kerbing and a significant portion of the pavement surfacing. As part of the works, three bus stops are being refurbished, and the basalt concrete paving has already been laid at two locations. In addition, utility connections have been raised to ground level and new drainage inlets have been installed.
North of Árpád út, specialists are currently working on rebuilding the kerbs, whilst the resurfacing of the square in front of the Town Hall has been completed. According to the chief site manager, the works are progressing according to plan, so the project is expected to be completed by the set deadline.
