Construction of the new Mocsai junction is continuing with the building of the internal bridge piers, so overnight, between km 77 and 78, the work area was cordoned off from traffic on both sides using concrete barriers by staff from MKIF staff.

„Last Thursday night into Friday, and again this Monday night into Tuesday, we implemented lane-by-lane diversions on the M1 motorway in order to minimise disruption to traffic” – they write on their social media page.

Over the course of two nights, the specialists installed a total of 108 concrete elements, each weighing 6 tonnes.

Although two lanes in each direction are maintained at all times during the expansion of the M1 motorway, there are occasions – such as the installation of bridge girders, the setting up of diversion routes, and the maintenance of road infrastructure – when work can only be carried out by further restricting traffic. Every effort is made to carry out these tasks at night.

To ensure reliable and prompt information, MKIF has launched a dedicated website on the M1 extension. The site provides important and essential information on travelling on the M1 in several languages and is available 24/7: potential junction closures, restrictions at service areas and the current traffic arrangements are all marked on a map, whilst details such as emergency lay-bys are also listed on the site.

„Throughout the entire duration of the expansion,” they emphasised, “we will ensure that there are 2×2 lanes for traffic. This means there will be 2 lanes in each direction, both towards Győr and Budapest. Both cars and lorries will be able to use the carriageway at all times!”
