A Hungarian company built the new Siemens Energy factory in Budapest

On 23 May, the Siemens Energy Kft.'s launch ceremony was held in Budapest. The 17,000 square metre, two-storey hall was built in the XV district of the capital by Market Építő Zrt.. The event was attended by Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The project involved the expansion of the existing Siemens Energy production centre. The new building houses production on the ground floor and warehousing and a welding training centre on the first floor.

A solar farm will also be commissioned

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the German giant will produce gas turbine combustors in its new multifunctional plant. At the same time, a dual training centre on the upper floor will provide training in the use of the latest technologies for both new employees and trainees. The investment will also result in the commissioning of a 1.5 megawatt solar farm under the Factory Savings Programme.

As we indicated at the topping-out ceremony for the investment (see rel="noopener">the topping-out ceremony for the investment, in addition to the manufacturing and training areas, the building also houses a closed machine room on the top floor and a 700-square-metre green roof. In addition, the project also included the construction of a main building, which houses various office spaces and changing rooms on three floors.

At the event, Minister of State Péter Szijjártó said that the investment programme, which consists of three components, represents a total value of HUF 26 billion, for which the Government is providing HUF 900 million in funding. In his speech, he stressed that this investment programme perfectly covers the main objectives of the Hungarian energy strategy, namely to enable Hungary to produce as much of the energy needed for the country's operation as possible.
