BKM Budapesti Közművek Nonprofit Zrt. is seeking a designer for the modernisation of the district heating trunk line on Nagysándor József Street in the 20th district.

BKM Budapesti Közművek Nonprofit Zrt., in the public procurement tender specified the preparation of construction drawings as a key task for a section of approximately 450 metres between manholes A002822 and A002837. Tenders for the preparation of planning permission and construction drawings for the refurbishment of the ageing DN400 reinforced concrete sewer, as well as for the provision of design supervision during construction, are invited by 23 September.

A key priority is to optimise route planning

The current main pipeline runs largely through private land, close to trees and buildings, which makes excavation and the demolition of the old protective trenches considerably more difficult. The designer’s primary task is therefore to examine the possibility of relocating the pipeline to public land, taking into account the existing utility infrastructure. If relocation is feasible, the abandoned sewers must be professionally sealed off in consultation with the landowners; and plans must be drawn up for the extension or replacement of the associated consumer service pipes (DN65) on Baross Street and Vörösmarty Street with modern, pre-insulated pipe pairs that can be laid directly in the ground.

If the reconstruction follows the existing route, a modern, pre-insulated steel pipe system equipped with a leak detection system must be installed along the same route following the removal of the old reinforced concrete protective channels and pipes. The scope of the contract includes a full structural and mechanical inspection of the mechanical shafts along the route, the replacement of internal fittings and supporting structures, and the redesign of the large (DN400) section shut-off valves in the terminal shaft to motorised, remotely controlled ball valves, including the necessary electrical supply.
