The surplus energy from the solar power plants is utilised by the logistics centres; in Maglód, the finishing touches are currently being put in place.

The installation of the Futureal Energy Partners energy storage units in Maglód, Fót and Páty has reached its final phase, according to a statement from the property development company. The development is being carried out as part of a project worth over 1.6 billion forints, with funding from the European Union.

A total of five energy storage units will be installed

According to the announcement, a separate division within Futureal-csoport is responsible for electricity trading and the comprehensive implementation of energy projects. A total of five energy storage units will be installed near logistics parks to optimise energy consumption:

  • three units, each with a capacity of 1 MW and a storage capacity of 2 MWh,
  • and two storage facilities, each with a capacity of 0.5 MW and 1 MWh, will be built.

The HelloParks logistics megaparks are making great strides

The investment is being carried out by FEH Solar One Kft., the project company associated with Futureal Energy Partners, for which the latter company has received a non-repayable EU grant of 536.29 million forints.

The units are being built across five sites within the logistics megaparks developed by the industrial property developer HelloParks.

Once operational, they will store the surplus energy generated by the solar power plants. This energy will then be utilised by the logistics centres when required.

Focus on balancing production and consumption

The project encompasses the design, licensing, commissioning, accreditation and operation of the energy storage facilities. The company is currently carrying out the final works on the Maglód energy storage facility, and construction work on the Fót and Páty facilities is also at an advanced stage.

„Energy storage is playing an increasingly important role in the stable operation of the electricity system and the efficient integration of renewable energy sources,” the press release quoted Márk Balástyai, CEO responsible for the Hungarian operations of Futureal Energy Partners, as saying. „With the developments in Maglód, Fót and Páty, we are implementing solutions that contribute to the coordination of generation and consumption, whilst also supporting the energy-efficient operation of the electricity system and logistics facilities.”
