These businesses have been banned for six months and have been banned from working under the relevant legislation since the spring.

Almost 26 thousand construction companies will be removed from the register of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) from Thursday, 18 September 2025, MKIK announced. The register will keep a record of the operators in the sector and their entitlements, including compulsory contractors' liability insurance.

These companies have been banned for six months and are not allowed to work since the spring, according to the relevant legislation - Government Decree 191/2009 (IX. 15.) on construction activities. The Chamber continuously checks the validity of the liability insurance. Exclusion from the register of contractors does not affect the status of the company concerned as recorded in public databases.

If deleted from the register, the company can only be re-registered

The entry into force of compulsory designer and contractor liability insurance in January – ÉVOSZ has been pushing for its introduction for years in order to improve the image of the profession and ensure fair competition.

MKIK informed all the businesses concerned about their insurance obligations in advance last December.

It is important to note that during the period of the ban, if the company has made up or is making up the data service, its registration will be automatically restored. However, after the 18 September cancellation, the entrepreneur can only be re-registered by completing a new registration, provided that the legal conditions are fully met.
