The building, which is over sixty years old, was previously extended with a two-storey wing; now its floor space is being increased by the addition of another storey.

As the southern gateway to the Bükk Mountains, Felsőtárkány boasts a charming lakeside park, a mountain railway and a picture-perfect setting; it is also home to one of the most prominent music schools in the Eger region. According to the latest data from TED, a contractor has been selected for the expansion of the institution in the public procurement process launched last September: Károlyház Kft. will carry out the construction of the new floor at a net contract value of 588 million.

That is why the expansion is necessary

The investor, the Eger School District Centre, cites the growing student numbers as the reason for the development, the stated aim of which is to maintain an outstanding standard of teaching. They emphasise that music education at the institution has a history stretching back three decades. Of the Eger School District Centre’s music institutions, this is one of those with the largest student numbers: amongst other things, Heves County’s largest traditional folk dance group is based here.

This is included in the project

The institution’s three-storey building was completed in 1963. It was later extended with a two-storey wing. The current development project includes, amongst other things,

  • 4 classrooms,
  • 1 specialist classroom,
  • 5 group rooms,
  • 2 storerooms,
  • and a toilet block will be built.

In addition to all this, a new staircase is also being built, which will ensure that the entire building is accessible and can be used by everyone. Alongside the extension of the institution, the existing classrooms will also be refurbished and modernised, and the heating system will be upgraded. The project also includes the construction of a new waste storage facility, as well as the provision of 21 new parking spaces.
