The Hajdúhátság region to the south of Hortobágy, the Szigetköz, the Northern Nyírség and the uppermost section of the Eastern Main Canal are also included in the next phase of the development of water retention systems.
Among others, nearly 4 kilometres of penstocks will be built in connection with the section completed under the previous project.
A major investment has been decided, with around 67 billion forints of funding. Pumping stations, pressure pipelines and dams are also part of the project.
