Renewable thermal energy may serve Mórahalom
The town of Mórahalom is embarking on a major energy development project aimed at expanding the use of local thermal energy and modernising the district heating system. According to data from the Electronic Public Procurement System, the Mórahalom Municipal Council has concluded a business and construction contract with SOMLAI BAU Építőipari és Szolgáltató Kft. for the „Construction of a transmission line and heating centre and modernisation of the heating centre in Mórahalom”.
The nearly 600 million forint project consists of two main parts:
- construction of a new thermal pipeline system
- and the modernisation and automation of municipal heating centres.
Construction of a new thermal pipeline system
The development comprises a total of 3,274 metres of new thermal pipes in three phases, made from state-of-the-art PP-RCT plastic pipes. The pipes will transport thermal water at a maximum temperature of 65 °C, providing heating for several institutions.
I. Táncsics Street section – 1188 metres
- The buildings at István király út 1, 1/A and 2/A will receive thermal water supply. The new thermal pipes will supply heating to the Government Office and the Chamber of Commerce.
II. Cooperation stage – 1150 metres
- The Garabonciás College and the Waterworks will receive a new thermal pipeline connection.
- The cable starts from the property with the registration number 893/6.
Section III Szilágyi – 936 metres
- The existing heating main pipe of the cascade system is extended.
- The Szilágyi College and the Móraép Workshop will also be provided for.
Construction and modernisation of heating centres
In the framework of the project:
- 6 new district heating centres is being built,
- 19 existing heating centres complete modernisation of mechanical and control engineering will take place,
- further 2 new heating centres and 1 secondary heating system is being built.
Part of the modernisation:
- heat exchangers,
- pumps,
- fittings,
- controls,
- Complete electrical and mechanical refurbishment.
The heating centres will be controlled by a PLC-based (programmable logic controller) system and connected to the central SCADA monitoring system. This will ensure efficient operation, remote monitoring and rapid troubleshooting.
Heat requirements of the six new municipal heating centres:
- Chamber of Commerce: 50 kW
- Employment Centre: 50 kW
- Garabonciás College: 60 kW
- Waterworks: 100 kW
- Mihály Szilágyi College: 300 kW
- MÓRAÉP Workshop: 200 kW + 35 kW
The spa's 19 heating centres are also being renovated
The entire heating system at the Szent Erzsébet Mórahalom Spa will also be automated with state-of-the-art technology. The development includes, among other things:
- the engine rooms of the main building,
- to the heating centres in Tanuszoda,
- to engine rooms 1–6 of the sauna world,
- thermal systems for outdoor pools and machine rooms,
- for supplying event and slide pools,
- the summer changing room and tent engine room heating centre.
