The new generation of substrate concrete is available at home

Screed is a specially formulated "substrate concrete", or more simply a floor substrate, which is now used in almost all construction projects. Its purpose is to form a layer on the slab structure to support the floor covering. PCT Hungary has recently started marketing the RETANOL® ESZTRICH system, which has unique features in the market; and it is a great help in planning with this system that it will be available in the TERC Budget Planner database from October 2023.

To demonstrate this and to promote the good features of the products as widely as possible, PCT Hungary recently held a successful conference, where participants were able to learn more about the products, which offer a high level of quality, day-to-day paving design even with reduced ply thickness, and in all cases a complete, complex service package, regardless of project size. The package includes elements such as:

• technological proposal, design;
• on-site construction supervision;
• laboratory test reports;
• heating protocol / CM measurement with envelope certification;
• full documentation;
• guarantees, warranties, indemnities;

Can be a significant help during implementation

With the RETANOL® ESZTRICH, the investor can reduce the overall construction time by at least 4-8 weeks, saving significant costs. Although this modern system covers the whole spectrum of construction, the RETANOL® ESZTRICH is particularly well suited for special solutions, for example when the thickness of the pavement has to be reduced or when special load specifications and compressive strength indicators have to be met.

It is ideal for forming fair-faced concrete, polished concrete and, uniquely on the market, it can also form large surfaces without dilatation (up to 250m² for heated or unheated screed). These two features make it particularly popular with interior designers. Moreover, the system can be used without the need for reinforcing steel or other synthetic fibre reinforcement.

General features of the RETANOL ESZTRICH system:

• can be cold-coated after 48 hours, and hot-coated after 72 hours;
• reduced natural shrinkage and deformation;
• extremely high early ultimate strength, reaching the design ultimate strength of 80-90% after 3-4 days;
• From CT-C30-F5 up to CT-C70-F9 quality;
• can be installed with reduced layer thicknesses (up to 30 mm);
• significantly reduces the pull-off resistance;
• less air bubbles are created;
• Walkable after 24 hours, even fully loadable (depending on layer thickness);
• easier to process than competing products.

The PCT Hungary aims to provide the domestic construction industry with a significantly higher level of technology than is widely available. They are planning for the long term because they see significant potential in the domestic market: the RETANOL® ESZTRICH system has been used in power parks, office buildings, condominiums and underground car parks, and is planned for use in a number of domestic projects. They are also currently working on the BMW project in Debrecen, where they have to produce a total of 13,000 m2 of CT-C40 F7 screed with their specialist contractor, with a guaranteed adhesion-tensile strength of 1.5 N/mm2 (the screed will be coated with resin).
