Construction output moves in a positive direction  

In January 2024, the volume of construction output was 17.2% higher than a year earlier, according to raw data. Among the main categories of construction, the production of buildings increased by 20.5 percent and that of other constructions by 11.6 percent, according to data released by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Thursday.
 

Construction output up by over ten percent compared to the previous month

Based on seasonally and working day adjusted indices, construction output was 10.2 percent higher than in December.
Among the construction sectors, output was 21.8 percent higher in the construction of buildings and 12.0 percent higher in the construction of other structures. Output in the largest weighted sector,
specialized construction, increased 16.3 percent.

A mixed picture for the contract portfolio

The volume of new contracts signed increased by 21.5 percent, including 31.5 percent for the construction of buildings, while the volume of contracts for the construction of other structures was 19.8 percent lower than a year earlier.
The volume of construction contracts at the end of January decreased by 14.9 percent, with contracts for the construction of buildings down by 9.1 percent and those for other construction down by 20.5 percent compared to the same period last year, the HCSO said.
