The first Hungarian subcontractor for the construction of the Paks II nuclear power plant has been selected
In the Paks II. project, the main contractor, Russian State Corporation Roszatom, and Titan-2 JSC Concern signed a contract in July 2022 for the complete construction of the nuclear island and turbine facilities of Unit 5.
Titan-2 Holding is one of Russia's largest, dynamically developing engineering and construction companies with extensive international experience in the implementation of large-scale projects such as the power plant. The company's employees are building projects such as the Akkuyu power plant in Turkey and the El-Dabbaa power plant in Egypt. The signing of the contract is a milestone in the life of the Paks II project, as the declared objective of the new power plant is to involve as many Hungarian companies as possible in the construction work.
A Bayer Construct Zrt., a major player in the domestic construction industry, quickly caught the attention of Russian companies thanks to its significant resources and references, and preparatory negotiations between the parties regarding the structural construction work have been ongoing for nearly a year.
The agreement just signed is for the construction of 3 m thick concrete base slabs for several buildings on the nuclear island of unit 5. The first concreting works at the bottom of the nearly 30-metre deep pit will start before the end of this year, according to information provided earlier by the main contractor Roszatom.
The structural engineering business of Bayer Construct Zrt. has proven itself on major projects such as the Arena or Etele plazas, the office buildings of the Agora Centre, or, in recent years, the construction of more than 10,000 apartments and hundreds of thousands of square metres of logistics centres and production halls. But the group also includes the giant project in Zugló, Zenit by Bayer.
