Robust yet light: the practical benefits of DUO

The DUO's special feature is that it is both durable and easy to handle thanks to its polymer material. It requires no crane and the formwork of an average family house can be transported in a single van, significantly reducing logistics costs and carbon emissions from transport. The use of the system also reduces labour requirements, offering structural engineers not only environmental but also economic benefits.

Conscious life cycle management from the manufacturer

The PERI is not only environmentally conscious during the production of the DUO, but throughout its lifecycle. Once the formwork has been used, contractors can send the products back to the manufacturer for cleaning in automatic washing stations - a solution that significantly reduces water and energy consumption as well as costs. The elements that can still be used are subjected to rigorous checks, and those that can be repaired are refurbished with new shuttering and missing elements. DUO offers a particularly long service life: the shutter shell can be reused at least 100 times and the frame 500 times.

Granulation: closing the loop

But the real novelty starts where other systems wear out. Even DUO batteries that can no longer be repaired don't end up as waste: the PERI takes them to a separate plastics recycling plant, where they are first shredded and then melted down. The resulting granulate is used to make new formwork elements - an example of how the construction industry can be truly sustainable.
