A major food investment project is launched in the Great Plain

Péter Szíjjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Tamás Lengl, member of the board and deputy CEO of Hungerit Zrt., announced the new development of Szentes in Csongrád-Csanád county at a ceremony: a Hungarian company is to build a new plant worth HUF 35 billion.

The Hungerit will create a new automated chicken slaughtering and processing complex in Szentes, with a HUF 9 billion state support, helping to create 50 new jobs and double the capacity of the broiler plant. Construction is expected to be completed in 2026.

Export-oriented investment

"We expect the investment in Svetes to significantly improve the export performance of Hungerit, and through it the export performance of the Hungarian food industry," said Szijjártó.

In his speech, he said that the Government considers the food industry, which currently employs 145,000 people, to be a strategically important sector, and that 287 major investments worth HUF 1,400 billion have been made in the sector over the past ten years, creating nine thousand jobs.
