The Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Szeged is set for expansion
A public procurement tender has been launched by Szegedi Tudományegyetem for the design of a health sciences education centre. The development would be linked to the existing Egészségtudományi és Szociális Képzési Kar educational building on Temesvári körút.
The development is expected to cover more than 2,800 square metres
The public procurement notice provides rather scant information about the new facility; there are no detailed specifications regarding its exact function or the teaching facilities. What we do know for certain, however, is that the new building
The total planned usable floor area is 2,822 square metres. Of this, the main rooms account for a total of 1,522 square metres; in addition, plans include a 1,000-square-metre garage and basement, as well as 300 square metres of parking space.
The SZTE project is seeking a contractor to prepare the full set of design documentation, to liaise with the relevant authorities and obtain the necessary permits, and to draw up detailed plans required for construction. The deadline for tenders is 5 October 2026.
Spaces tailored to the needs of the training programmes
The design brief includes the preparation of an updated as-built plan of the existing main building, as well as a geodetic survey of the building. The designer must adapt the rooms in the new extension to the specified functions, floor areas, occupancy numbers and technical requirements.
This complex design task requires the involvement of a number of specialist disciplines. In addition to architectural and structural design, it also includes, amongst other things, building services engineering, electrical engineering, IT, building automation, fire safety, energy efficiency, accessibility, transport, geotechnical engineering, landscaping and utility planning.
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Work at SZTE trains, amongst others, health visitors, physiotherapists, social workers and nursing assistants.
