Another county town could get a long-awaited bypass
The development of the Eger bypass has long been on the agenda. Several studies have been carried out in recent years on the development of the city and its region, and now the route of this important route has finally been decided.
The Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium (ÉKM) is preparing a study plan and environmental impact assessment for the Eger eastern bypass road, with the aim of obtaining an environmental permit and reducing traffic congestion in the city. The preliminary plans are being prepared by UTIBER Közúti Beruházó Kft., UVATERV Út-, Vasúttervező Zrt. and Pannonway Építő Kft.. As we reported earlier, Eger's more than 15-kilometre-long bypass will be built after consulting the city's residents.
Of the route options developed as part of the community planning process, the planning committee of experts decided on the version to be submitted for environmental approval for the Eger bypass.
The jury took into account a number of criteria in its decision, in which the Mayor of the County City of Eger, Dr. Gábor Pajtók, Member of Parliament, the Chief Architect of Eger, the representative of the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, the representative of Magyar Közút, the representative of the Hungarian Road and Railway Company, the Head of the Department of the Heves County Government Office and the staff of ÉKM and the Design Consortium represented the interests of the residents of the area.
The final study plan presented at the planning session includes an outer and an inner trail variant for each of the three sections.
North-south traffic could be significantly accelerated
On the Eastern Bypass and Western Bypass sections, taking into account public feedback, the outer track will be further planned, as decided by the Minister, and the jury voted on the alternatives within the track variation, junction designs and the proposals made during the assessment on these sections. Decisions were also taken on the Felném bypass and other technical proposals for the whole section.
The decision states:
- Hadnagy Street will be extended under the railway line to the bypass, which will also be accessible from here.
- Leányka Street and Donát Street will also be connected to the bypass, the latter only with the construction of the junction, with no other intervention to avoid traffic pulling.
- The Cifrakapu street connection will have a separate level crossing.
- To the north, next to the OBI department store, the bypass crosses the railway line, Highway 25 and the Eger stream on an overpass, where you can continue straight on to the western bypass or rejoin Highway 25 on a separate branch at the turbo roundabout at the current traffic light junction of the shopping centre.
The planning of the Western Route is also progressing
The western section of the road, which joins the eastern bypass, starts at the grade-separated junction with the main road 25 and climbs up the hill with a large, concave, rounded curve, avoiding the planned housing estate.
In the beginning, you can drive at 70 km/h, then 90 km/h.
A four-lane roundabout will be built at Szalapart Street, and a four-lane roundabout will also connect it to the main road 24.
More options for the Felnémet bypass
The committee has discussed four options for the Felnémet bypass, of which the final solution has not yet been decided. However, a decision was taken on the junction of Tulipán Square, Foresters' Road and Tárkányi Road, where the jury voted for a grade-separated junction.
