Train MÁV-csoport will ease and lift speed restrictions on the 1-es vasútvonal service between Kelenföld and Budaörs.

Work on the 1-es vasútvonalon line will continue this weekend. As a result of this work, some of the speed restrictions previously introduced due to the condition of the track will be lifted. According to information from MÁV, engineers are screening and replacing the ballast on the section between Kelenföld and Budaörs. In addition, the level crossing on Muskétás Street in Budapest’s 11th district is being renovated, with the rails and crossing components being replaced.

Journey times may be reduced

During the works, 880 tonnes of crushed stone will be moved. According to Zsolt Hegyi, Managing Director of MÁV, the works will improve the condition of the railway track over a 600-metre stretch. Speed restrictions on the affected sections will be gradually eased: trains will be able to travel at 80 kilometres per hour instead of the current 60. On the other affected sections, the track speed will be restored to 120 kilometres per hour following the realignment work. The gradual easing of speed restrictions could reduce journey times by 1–2 minutes and improve timetable reliability.

Passengers should expect track closures and changes to the timetable

The railway level crossing on Muskétás Street will be closed whilst the work is in progress. At the weekend, the track closure will also result in changes to the timetables of some trains. It is advisable to check for any changes before travelling.
