According to the conditional public procurement tender, a 1,200 m² industrial production hall may be built on Mezőkövesd’s 20-hectare industrial estate – including the installation of associated building services and other infrastructure.

The local council of Mezőkövesd has published a public procurement tender divided into three parts in connection with the development of a 20-hectare industrial site. The central element of the investment, planned under the TOP Plusz programme with funding from Európai Regionális Fejlesztési Alap, is the construction of a new industrial production hall. It is important to note, however, that the public procurement procedure was announced on a conditional basis, according to the EU Public Procurement Bulletin.

According to the local authority’s previous announcement states that the building is intended for letting, so businesses engaged in manufacturing activities may move in at a later date. The deadline for submitting bids is 16 November.

A two-storey building with a steel-framed structure

The first phase of the project involves the construction of the hall.

The building, comprising a ground floor and first floor, will have a total usable floor area of 1,460 square metres and a height of 9 metres. The flat-roofed building will feature a steel supporting framework and external envelope structures made of sandwich panels.

Work begins with the construction of the reinforced concrete point foundations and the installation of the industrial flooring, followed by the erection of the steel supporting structure and the installation of the roof covering. During the interior fit-out, plasterboard walls and coffered suspended ceilings are installed, and ceramic wall and floor tiles are laid.

The mechanical and electrical installations required for the building’s operation are also part of the construction work. 201 light fittings, 22 radiators and 35 sanitary fixtures will be fitted. In addition, utility connections will be installed; according to the plans, 115 metres of sewer pipework and 120 metres of drinking water pipework will be laid.

Heat pumps and solar panels for energy efficiency

The building’s heating and cooling are provided by an air-to-air heat pump, whilst a 20-kilowatt solar panel system is being installed on the flat roof.

The hall’s digital infrastructure is also being developed. A broadband internet connection and high-performance Wi-Fi access points will support those working in the building.

As part of the infrastructure required for the collection and reuse of rainwater, a rainwater harvesting system will be installed on the site to provide water for irrigation and for flushing the toilets.

A road designed to cope with car park and industrial traffic is also being built

The construction of the external infrastructure required to access the hall forms a separate part of the public procurement process. A car park with capacity for ten cars will be built in front of the building’s main entrance; in addition, the road junction leading to the north-eastern façade and the associated paving will also be completed. The car park will be 25.3 metres long and 5.5 metres wide. Its surface will consist of 6-centimetre-thick paving stones laid on a cement-bound load-bearing base.

The north-eastern road junction consists of two sections. The first is 16.86 metres long and 6 metres wide, whilst the second connects to the hall over a length of 27.14 metres and a width of 12.56 metres. The road will have an asphalt surface and a crushed stone base, whilst two drainage wells will ensure the drainage of rainwater.

The plot is bordered by a fence nearly 1.8 kilometres long

The third part of the project involves fencing off the hall site and constructing the entrances. According to the plans, a 1.8-metre-high, paneled fence will be erected, with its posts secured to drilled concrete point foundations.

The public procurement documentation specifies the construction of 1,794 metres of fencing. Three swing gates, each 6 metres wide, will be installed for vehicle traffic, and two pedestrian gates, each 1 metre wide, will be installed for pedestrians.

In addition to the installation of utilities and the construction of transport infrastructure, the works also include landscaping and garden design.
