Four blocks, 254 flats: structural work on the Csepel apartment block is progressing using PERI systems

The construction work is supported by several PERI systems – including the DOMINO wall formwork and the MULTIFLEX floor formwork – which are complemented by the PERI engineering support.

In Csepel, a housing development comprising four blocks with a total of 254 flats is under construction. The first phase of the project, which is divided into two major stages and comprises two blocks, is already 95 per cent complete in terms of structural work.

Several types of PERI systems are being used in the construction of the project. The DOMINO wall formwork system is being used for the walls, whilst the MULTIFLEX floor formwork system is being used for the floors. The work is also supported by several cantilever scaffolds and FB 180 work platforms.

A flexible system that can handle even minor discrepancies

A key factor in selecting the appropriate formwork systems was the scale of the project, as well as the fact that the floor plans of the four buildings are largely identical.

Thanks to the various sizes of its timber beams, the MULTIFLEX system enables contractors to deal flexibly with even minor variations between buildings. The crane capacity available on site also made it possible to use the larger panels of the DOMINO system, as moving them posed no problem.

Several hoist stands are being used during the project. As one of the successful new solutions in the PERI range, these play an important role in moving materials between levels and in their temporary storage. With their help, materials can be transported quickly and easily to the relevant working level.

FB 180 scaffolding is also used in multi-storey construction projects to ensure that formwork systems can be erected safely and efficiently.

„A common advantage of these systems is that their use enables structural work to progress quickly and safely at every stage,” emphasised Flóra Csomós, sales engineer for project PERI, Flóra Csomós.

Engineering support for project PERI was also required for specific on-site details. One such task, for example, was the design of suitable formwork for the horizontal slab to be constructed above the ramp drive in the first phase. Due to the sloping surface, the design and assembly of the formwork for the high slab required precise engineering coordination.

„Even details that seem simple at first glance require a great deal of attention. The teamwork of the PERI engineering team plays a significant role in resolving these issues,” said Flóra Csomós.

The key to success lies in the collaboration between the contractor and PERI

In addition to the technical systems, the cooperation established between the contractor and the experts at PERI also plays an important role in the progress of the project.

The sales engineer for PERI and László Gyermán , the site manager and specialist for SZIGET-HÁZ KFT., were already on the same wavelength right from the start of their collaboration. During their discussions, they are able to talk openly not only about the results, but also about any problems that arise, scheduling issues and differing views on implementation.

„We learn a great deal from one another about how each of us likes to build and plan. I’m proud that we can trust one another, and that we can talk honestly not only about our successes but also about the difficulties we face,” said Flóra Csomós.

The personal significance of the project is further enhanced by the fact that, as a female engineer, she is also actively involved in the large-scale structural engineering work.

„I am delighted to see that more and more women are taking on leading roles in the construction industry. It feels good to walk past these buildings and be able to say: ”As a sales engineer at PERI, I too played a part in their construction,„” she said. “Anything is possible if we work hard enough to achieve it.”
