Project Magyar Közút is launching the renovation of 46 kilometres of secondary roads in Central Transdanubia

On the Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. community page announced that, as part of the Regional and Local Development Operational Programme Plus, it is launching a comprehensive road renovation programme in the Central Transdanubia region and Győr-Moson-Sopron County. The series of projects will be funded by a gross total of 13.1 billion forints in non-repayable European Union funding, enabling the renovation of 18 sections of secondary roads totalling more than 46 kilometres.

As a key element of the development package, a section of approximately 4 kilometres of the 8408-numbered road linking Pápa and Szilsárkány will also be upgraded in the Marcaltő and Várkesző areas – both the rural and urban sections are included in the project.

During the works, the existing surfacing will be upgraded along its entire length with a cold-applied load-bearing base course, a levelling course, a new asphalt wearing course and an improved kerb.

The project also places great emphasis on improving road safety: where local conditions permit, the carriageway will be widened to enable buses to pull over and allow other vehicles to pass unhindered. In addition, the platforms at the bus stops concerned are being made accessible, road signs are being replaced, and permanent road markings are being painted. The refurbishment will noticeably improve travel comfort and safety, whilst significantly enhancing access to the district centre of Pápa, making it easier for local residents to access essential economic, educational and healthcare services.
