Using spectacular animation, MKIF presented what the M4 motorway service area in Monor will look like, where visitors will be greeted by modern garden furniture, a fitness park and a children’s playground.

As part of the MKIF Magyar Koncessziós Infrastruktúra Fejlesztő Zrt. project involves the construction of a new, state-of-the-art rest area on the M4 motorway at kilometre marker 38+625, in the Monor area, near Strázsa Hill. Launched to cater for growing traffic volumes, the aim of the development is to create a safe and family-friendly transit facility.

The development is symmetrical, comprising an area of approximately 4 hectares on each side, where the internal road networks for passenger and goods traffic are completely separated. On each side, there will be 30 lorry parking spaces, 5 bus parking spaces and 34 car parking spaces – three of the latter will be accessible, and four will be equipped with electric charging points at a later date. For lorries, a state-of-the-art occupancy indicator system will help with navigation, and the site will be designed to accommodate a petrol station in the future.

The complex places particular emphasis on relaxation: visitors will find modern garden furniture, a fitness area and a children’s playground, alongside facilities for separate waste collection and toilet blocks.

As part of the landscaping of the green spaces, a total of 37,000 square metres of grassed areas will be created on both sides, and more than 230 trees and 13,000 container-grown shrubs will be planted. The works began with the removal of the topsoil layer under the supervision of archaeologists, followed by extensive earthworks and the installation of utility infrastructure,

The entire project is scheduled to be completed by August 2027.
