Drilling is also taking place beneath the railway: work on the Déli Körvasút project continues with the relocation of utility lines
On Monday, the utility relocation works required for the implementation of the second phase of Déli Körvasút will begin in Hamzsabégi Park – according to Közlekedési és Beruházási Minisztérium. According to the ministry, during the works – which are expected to last until mid-October – specialists will carry out the final replacement and installation of telecommunications, electrical, public lighting and stormwater drainage networks.
As part of the Déli körvasút capacity-expansion project, which involves the development of the Déli körvasút line connecting Ferencváros and Kelenföld stations, 6 kilometres of new track will be built and 7.7 kilometres will be rebuilt. Along the entire length of the section, trains will be able to run at higher speeds than before on three tracks instead of the previous two, and on four tracks in one section.
Due to the congestion in the area and the existing utility networks, part of the work is being carried out under the railway line using directional drilling. A temporary works area of approximately 4,200 square metres is being used for the works. They are drilling under the railway using directional drilling
As part of the work scheduled for September, new street lighting will be installed in the pedestrian underpasses on Erőmű Street, Mohai–Fadrusz Street and Fejér Lipót–Bukarest Street. In addition, a new rainwater drainage network will be installed to ensure proper drainage of the railway track and engineering structures.
During the works, which will also include weekend work, temporary restrictions are to be expected in the affected parts of Hamzsabégi Park and on the associated public roads.
