Szív Street in the capital has been renovated in just under two months

The section of Szív Street between Aradi Street and Andrássy Avenue, along with the associated junction, has been fitted with modernised surfacing, traffic-calming measures and new green spaces as part of the HE-DO.

The aim of the development, covering approximately 1,100 square metres, was to improve road safety, modernise the ageing road surface and revitalise the streetscape – as stated on the company’s website.

Refurbished junction, new traffic arrangements

The project was carried out in two main phases: first the junction was renovated, followed by the section of road, with the works carried out in succession. At the junction, the asphalt surface was replaced with paving stones, and a speed bump was also installed. The surface of the kerbs was also upgraded, and planters were installed to create a greener environment.

The wearing course of the road surface on this street was replaced to a depth of 5 centimetres, whilst the pavements on both sides were also renewed. During the works, a fire hydrant was relocated, and planters, fences and new street furniture were installed.

Work began in early December 2025, starting with the reconstruction of the junction, followed by the refurbishment of the pavements and the road surface. The project was completed with the installation of street furniture, landscaping and the finalisation of traffic management features.

Fast turnaround, efficient delivery

The project was funded by the local authority and commissioned by the District VI Council. One of the key aspects of the development was the speed of execution: the works were completed in just one and a half to two months. The physical completion of the project took place in January 2026, with full handover in mid-February.

The refurbished Szív Street and junction thus began operating by the end of winter in a safer, more modern and more welcoming form, serving the residents of Terézváros.
