The new cycle path between Jobbágyi and Szurdokpüspöki will provide a car-free route for cyclists.

A contractor has been selected to build the new cycle path running through the Zagyva Valley: according to the Public Procurement Bulletin data, VIANOVA 87 Zrt. will build the 2.441-kilometre section.

The route will be constructed between public road 2405, which connects Jobbágyi and Apc, and public road 2406, which runs from Szurdokpüspöki towards Gyöngyös. From a cyclist’s perspective, it will provide a car-free route along the Zagyva River between Jobbágyi and Szurdokpüspöki.

The local council of Jobbágy is implementing a tourism and leisure development project using EU funding under the TOP Plusz scheme.

A significant section has already been completed in the Pásztó area

The Zagyva Valley Cycle Route is being developed in several phases along the Zagyva River, which flows through the picturesque landscapes on the border between the Cserhát and Mátra ranges. Cycling opportunities between the settlements along the Zagyva were previously very limited, taking place partly only on dirt tracks: this programme addresses this issue, whilst also improving access to the industrial parks.

Our newspaper has previously reported in detail on the construction of the 13-kilometre section passing through Zagyvapálfalva, Kisterenye, Bátonyterenye and Pásztó, which was carried out by Penta General Construction Kft..
