The winning bidder, Mészáros & Mészáros Zrt, has 660 days to complete the works.

We recently reported on the launch of a large-scale water reservoir construction project affecting three towns in the Kisalföld region, which will be carried out by Colas Alterra Zrt. and Betonútépítő Zrt.. With the help of reservoirs, two-way supply can be achieved, which can significantly reduce water shortages in the region. Ács and Bábolna are currently supplied by the Tatabánya regional system, whose capacity is no longer sufficient to meet water demand, while the significant spare capacity of the Koppánymonostor water base can supply not only Bábolna but also the industrial area of Ács. As is well known, a cathode factory is scheduled to start production in Ács this year.

The drinking water and sewage networks of the municipalities concerned must also be upgraded for this two-way system. The design and implementation work for this has now been won by Mészáros és Mészáros Zrt.

The winning company will have 660 days to carry out the works, which it will be commissioned by Északdunántúli Vízmű Zrt. to carry out for HUF 9.5 billion. The complex development of the water network in Ács and its surroundings will involve the extension of the existing wastewater treatment plant in Ács, which will treat not only the wastewater of the municipality but also that of the industrial area and Bábolna, with the treated wastewater being discharged into the Danube.

The project also includes the construction of a wastewater pipeline, a wastewater interceptor and the extension of the drainage system within the municipality of Ács. Planned technical content:

  • Ácsi wastewater treatment plant development, design and construction of hydraulic capacity extension 3000 m3to /d.
  • Upgrading of the municipal wastewater network and intermediate interceptors.
  • Reconstruction of the cemetery.
  • Design and construction of a wastewater penstock (at least D300) capacity extension between the final interceptor and the treatment plant (~1.3 km).
  • Design and construction of a wastewater network (at least D300) (including ~9.4 km of wastewater pressure pipelines) and ~180 m3/h capacity wastewater interceptor between the industrial area and the wastewater treatment plant, with additional connections to the municipal wastewater network.
  • Design and construction of a new final effluent treatment plant at Bábolna.
  • Design and construction of ~ 4.8 km of wastewater pressure pipeline (at least D300) from Bábolna to the connection point of the Ács industrial area.
  • Construction of a Danube drift line for the discharge of treated wastewater (~2.9 km).
  • Power and control technology improvements.

The Contracting Authority intends to carry out the design and construction of the storm water drainage system at the same time as the development of the sewerage network, and therefore reserves the right to exercise an option on the works.
