Recognition for the construction industry: a specialist from a building construction company is named Project Manager of the Year

Managing the general construction of the MOL Campus required special technical solutions, vision and organisational skills.

András Wolf won the Project Manager of the Year Award for managing the general construction of MOL Campus. The deputy technical director of Market Építő Zrt. led a team of more than 50 general contractors during the work. Completed in autumn 2022, the 143-metre-high tower block is Hungary's tallest building: we recently reported on the design and construction challenges and the experiences gained during almost a year of operation recently reported on in a detailed analysis.

Forging a cohesive team of team members with different personalities

A statement announcing the inauguration on 8 November highlighted that the building has more than 25,000 square metres of façade surface area and a completely unique spatial design and interior design. The construction required special technical solutions, vision and organisational skills.

At the ceremony, András Wolf stressed that his goal as project manager is to bring together team members with different personalities into a coherent team. He said that the outcome is important to him and the journey to get there is what makes the project really exciting. "A project manager needs to be able to deal quickly with unexpected situations and think with the partner and sponsor in mind," he stressed.

András Molnár Ákos András Molnár, Senior Manager of PriceWaterHouseCooper Magyarország Kft., received a special award at the event for his support of agile transformation at thyssenkrupp's development centre in Budapest. The main challenge in the project was that the change in project management methodology also meant that organisational changes had to be managed, and with a very tight deadline.

Today, the project management profession has become of paramount importance

This year, for the 23rd time, the Project Management Excellence Awards were held in conjunction with World Project Management Day. They stressed that nowadays the project management profession is of paramount importance in the life of companies and organisations, and is crucial for success and efficiency. The Project Manager of the Year Award aims to highlight exemplary professional achievements and successful careers, thus promoting the development of a project management culture.

The Project Manager of the Year Award is organised by the Project Management Excellence Panel, a community of project management professional organisations, whose members are:

  • the Hungarian Project Management Association (PMSZ)
  • the Hungarian Association of General Contractors (FŐVOSZ)
  • the Project Management Section of the Association for Telecommunications and Information Science (HTE)
  • the Association of IT, Telecommunications and Electronics Enterprises (IVSZ)
  • the Association of Building Research (BRA)
  • the Neumann János Computer Science Society (NJSZT)
  • a Vállalkozók és Munkáltatók Országos Szövetsége (VOSZ)
