Another award for the tallest domestic building
The bronze plaque commemorating Mol Campus as the winner of the 2023 Construction of Excellence Award in the category of Public Buildings and Office Buildings was unveiled at a ceremony.
The 143-metre-high tower block, built by Market Építő Zrt, was handed over in December 2022. The facility was built with four levels below ground and 28 office levels above ground, with a completely unique spatial design. Our portal followed the construction process. The building has won numerous awards, including the ÉVOSZ construction industry professional award.
"Architectural masterpiece, technology and innovation" - that's what Mol Campus means to us - said Péter Varga, Managing Director of Mol Campus Kft., the investor. He added that the building symbolises Mol's past and future with its innovative solutions. In his speech, he called the project unique because it was realised as it was designed.
No time, money or resources were exceeded in the implementation.
A great work of art
András Wolf described the project as an outstanding achievement of his professional career spanning almost two decades. In his welcome address, the Deputy CEO of Market Építő Zrt. highlighted the partnership and exemplary cooperation that characterised the construction of Mol Campus. Success required the commitment to high quality of the investor, the designers, the contractors and the project supervisors. András Wolf also thanked the Market Csoport subsidiaries, suppliers and subcontractors who, he said, "made a huge contribution to the realisation of the project".
"It was not an easy task when we had to turn the concept plans into detailed designs" - began his welcome speech Antal Fekete. The chief design architect of the Finta és Társai Építész Stúdió added that many problems were solved in a novel way during the project. The positive result of this is that designers will be able to fly more freely in the future. He said:
The Mol Campus is a pioneering, experimental building that has fulfilled this role since its construction, as it serves the technical progress and development of a sector.
98% of construction waste recycled
Barnabás Herényi, representing Óbuda Group, a sustainability consultancy and certification company, said that a year ago Mol Campus was the only one in Hungary to successfully obtain both the LEED Platinum and BREAM Excellent green building certification. In his speech, the expert pointed out that 98% of the waste generated during the construction process was prepared for recycling. With the installation of a solar farm and ground source heat pumps, renewable energy is supporting the day-to-day operation of the building. Barnabás Herényi added that Mol has set an example for the market in its transition to circular economy.
Professional excellence award without question marks
The Construction Industry Excellence Award was presented by Miklós Gosztonyi, a member of the professional jury that awarded the prize. Before the ceremony, he said that in 1999, Építési Vállalkozók Országos Szakszövetsége and the Construction Science Association decided to establish a professional award to recognise quality construction work.
The Awards of Excellence are decided by a 19-member committee delegated by 9 professional associations. He explained that there are many different criteria and perspectives when awarding the prizes, but in the case of Mol Campus, there was unanimity among the panel members.
At the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were presented to Moratus Kft., the structural Moratus Kft., the OROSházaGLAS Kft., the glass structure OROSházaGLAS Kft. and ENSI Kft., the building services engineering company, for their work on the Mol Campus.
