Construction company helps flood protection

 "We need every helping hand" - this is how Gábor Major, the mayor of Gönyű, asked for help for flood protection on the community page of the village a few days ago.

In this town of 3,200 inhabitants in Győr-Moson-Sopron County, many volunteers, including employees of STRABAG employees, joined the local residents in carrying out flood protection work.

Nearly sixteen tonnes of sand in the bags

The municipality, which has a major river port on the Danube, is under an indefinite protection order due to the exceptional flood situation. This was another reason why assistance was urgently needed.

STRABAG and its 12 employees were not only involved in filling sandbags, the company also provided trucks to help with the on-site protection. In just a few hours, they helped move nearly 16 tonnes of sand, supporting the local community's efforts and minimising the damage
