Two barges were dispatched from the bridge construction site at Mohács to Paks, and both have now arrived. At the same time, specialised hydraulic engineering stone is also being supplied for the construction of the bottom sill, including transport.

The Duna Aszfalt Zrt. supports the safe supply of cooling water to the Paks Nuclear Power Station and preparedness for potential critical situations through two specific measures – according to a statement sent to our newspaper by the company.

In consultation with the government, a barge that is currently not required for the construction of the Danube bridge at Mohács set off on Wednesday and arrived safely in Paks, where, in the Danube riverbed, the bottom sill, which our newspaper has covered in detail, is being built around the clock.

Yesterday, however, a second barge also set off from our worksite in Mohács, and it too arrived there today. „We are confident that they will perform just as professionally in their new role as they did during the construction of Hungary’s 21st and southernmost bridge over the Danube,” the report stated.

The raw material will be supplied from the Versend quarry from Monday onwards

In addition, yesterday the Hungarian construction company offered 1,000 tonnes of special hydraulic engineering stone as part of the first phase, including its transport by road to the site. They also intend to increase this allocation. The raw material will be supplied from the Versend quarry from as early as Monday, in accordance with a schedule tailored to requirements.

They emphasised that Duna Aszfalt Zrt. is committed to using its capabilities and professional expertise to assist swiftly and effectively in preparations for the Paks energy crisis. „Should any further requests arise from the government or the body responsible for coordination regarding preparations for Paks, we shall endeavour to assist in fulfilling them,” the statement concludes.
