A major construction contract is speeding up the construction of the Paks sill
The nationwide collaboration has taken another significant step forward in the construction of the Paks foundation sill: a leading company in the Hungarian construction industry has made a major pledge.
The KÉSZ Csoport has supplied approximately 200,000 tonnes of high-quality, specialised stone for hydraulic engineering works, a quantity which is expected to cover, to a large extent, the facility’s total stone requirements.
Mihály Varga, founder of KÉSZ Csoport, and Miklós Balogh, CEO of Reneszánsz Kőfaragó Zrt., have offered high-quality, specialised hydraulic engineering stone from Reneszánsz Zrt.’s Süttő quarry for the construction of the Danube riverbed sill between Paks and Dunaszentbenedek.
Tamás and Zsolt’s Kft. and Baulog have also entered the materials handling sector
The delivery of the quarry stone has already begun, according to the press release. In addition to road transport, the group of companies also helped to develop and organise the technical solutions for rail transport required to deliver such large quantities efficiently to their destination.
Through the strategic partnership with KÉSZ Csoport, Tamás Lovas, owner of Tamás és Zsolt Kft., has offered, free of charge, the mobile crane, oversized and standard heavy goods vehicle capacity required for the underrun barrier project, as well as the use of the associated equipment. This is complemented by the logistics expertise, organisational skills and implementation experience of Baulog Kft., part of the KÉSZ Csoport group, enabling the coordinated execution of complex crane, material handling and transport tasks.

The statement also details the role of MA-HARD, which is part of the KÉSZ Csoport programme. The company currently maintains a standby system in the vicinity of the Paks Nuclear Power Station to provide specialised capacity, so that it can swiftly commence the designated technical interventions should the need arise.
The available capabilities range from pumping to support water supply, through the construction of floating work platforms and cofferdams, river channel regulation, dredging and river management, to the transport of large quantities of rock and structural elements by water, as well as the construction of embankments and hydraulic structures.
Part of the MA-HARD’s fleet and equipment is already located in the Paks area, whilst further deployable units can be redeployed to the area at short notice if necessary.
