In 2022, the capacity of Hungarian photovoltaic power plants broke all records with an increase of 1,063 MW, but 2023 even surpassed this: in the first 11 months of the year, capacity increased by 1,566 MW. The domestic increase was the ninth largest in the EU in 2023, tied with Greece.

Among other things, Terrán has taken a decisive step towards environmental awareness with the development of the Generon solar roof system. Each tile of the Generon functions as a solar panel, and its design allows it to fit perfectly into the roof surface.

With the right roof design, it doesn't overheat even when it's hot in the summer, which is good for performance. Even in cloudy weather, it can operate at up to 50-90% utilisation.

Colourful towards the sun

Although dark coloured roof tiles are very popular, brick red and red tiles are the most common.

It was precisely because of the preference for more traditional colours that Terrán began developing the colourful Generon, resulting in the group welcoming this year with the introduction of the Generon RED solar roof tile.

 

 

But it's not just the colour that's different: an improved coating extends the life of the Generon RED. The Generon solar roof system remains compatible only with the Rundo and the renewed Zenit, now renamed Zenit Max. The Generon RED is in perfect harmony with the red roof tiles in the Terrán range, maintaining a traditional look while generating energy overhead.

But the more than 100-year-old group's commitment to sustainability is not only reflected in the Generon solar roof system. At the Terrán site in Bóly, a solar farm provides the entire electricity supply for the tile manufacturing plant. In Pécs and Kunszentmiklós, the renewable energy sources are currently in the final stages of implementation.

The Terrán's commitment to environmental responsibility and its environmentally friendly manufacturing processes and operations were recognised with two Superbrands awards in 2023. The Terrán's dedication to green thinking and protecting our planet continues this year.
