Several sections of the Buda tramway are being renewed, and work is also underway towards Hűvösvölgy

From 26 July, renovation works will begin in the XII district of the capital on tram lines 56, 61 and 59, the BKV Zrt. said in a statement on Monday.

Explained: modernisation

the Kútvölgyi road crossing, the Liptó street and the Lejtő street track. During the works, the St. János Centre Hospital in North Buda will be accessible by tram, while traffic on Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor will be similar to the previous cut-off times.

During the modernisation process – as in the case of the the case of the Grand Boulevard tram line – so-called track bedding will be installed. This modern noise and vibration damping technology will allow trams to travel faster and more quietly on this section, and will also reduce their environmental impact.

With the current renovation, around 180 metres of track will be renewed, with precast concrete elements being installed and completely new rails laid.
