Reconstruction of the social-religious main building of the university in Dunaújváros, the development has started

A formal press conference was held in Dunaújváros, Fejér County, to mark the start of a large-scale development project at the city's university. Among the institution's properties, the main building marked „F” is the only original „socialist realist” building, which will be completely renovated by ZÁÉV Építőipari Zrt.. The project is worth approximately 4.7 billion forints net, according to a press release issued on the occasion of the event.

The university has almost tripled its student numbers

The renovation of the main building became timely not only because of the modernization, but also because the University of Dunaújváros will have an outstanding increase in the number of students in 2023. In the general admission and the additional admission procedure, the institution has achieved an astonishing increase of 173% compared to last year, with nearly 1900 new students starting their studies from September 2023.

Nearly 800 seats in the 6400 square metre building

The main building, which is due to be completed soon, will have a useful floor area of 6400 m² and will include a basement, ground floor, two floors and a built-in attic. All of its rooms will have new flooring and suspended ceilings, and the bathrooms will be rebuilt on each floor. The building's mechanical and electrical systems will also be completely rebuilt. The latter will include the installation of the building's low-voltage network, security and CCTV systems and a separate server room.

The entire roof structure will be demolished and rebuilt in its original shape and size, using modern tools and materials to ensure sustainability.

After the contract was signed in July, the renovation will take 400 days, according to the tender specification, and students are expected to be back in the building by autumn next year. The classrooms and lecture halls will have a total capacity of 772 seats.

Green solutions and aesthetics also play a role

The green solutions used in the renovation of the facade will also contribute to energy-efficient operation. The wall will be insulated with a 15 cm thick mineral wool insulation layer, with a state-of-the-art system of thin insulation. The arched section of the entrance facade will not be demolished: the missing stone and artificial stone elements will be replaced. The project also includes landscaping and landscaping works around the building.
