What is being built?
Work is already underway on the final shape of the Székesfehérvár hospital development
The new internal medicine building complex of the Szent György University Teaching Hospital in Fejér County is becoming increasingly visible. In Székesfehérvár, a new 112-bed hospital block is being built on behalf of Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium, and the corridor connecting it to the previously used part of the institution is being renovated. Fejér-B.Á.L. Zrt. and Épkar Zrt. consortium.
The installation of the lifts is underway, the walls will be painted soon
The foundation stone for the new hospital complex was laid in March 2022. Last September, the topping-out ceremony was held for the three-and-a-half-storey building with a usable floor space of approximately 6,100 square metres. Our newspaper continuously reported on the various stages of construction. Most recently, December. Anita Pető, construction manager of Épkar Zrt., told our portal about the tasks completed since then:
As the interior progresses, new and specialist tradespeople are constantly being brought in to help with the construction. Preparations are currently underway for the painting and cold finishing works. One of the six lifts has been fully installed and work is in progress on two others.
The works on the facade have also started
Work is also underway on the exterior of the hospital block to give the building its final form. To this end, the façade has been almost completely scaffolded. Anita Pető said that the installation of the supporting structures and thermal insulation has begun, followed in two or three weeks by the installation of the large slabs of cladding. At this stage of the works, the shutter boxes for the external shading of the building and the supporting structures for the canopies will be put in place.
The challenge in designing the façade, according to the architect, was to coordinate the Promat insulation for passive fire protection in the inner courtyard with the fire curtain installations.
In the spring, contractors will be working on the landscaping and renovation of the connecting corridor
As for the next phase of the construction, the architect said that in the spring they will start the landscaping and road works, as well as the renovation of the corridor connecting the new building with an older one.
In addition to internal medicine, the new 112-bed hospital will house a pulmonary department and will also treat patients with cancer and infectious diseases.
