The drinking water supply system of seven Danube-side municipalities in Fejér county is renewed
The development is being carried out by a consortium comprising Építési és Közlekedési Minisztérium and Dunántúli Regionális Vízmű Zrt.. As previously reported on our portal our portal previously reported, is Mészáros és Mészáros Zrt. according to EU public procurement data.
Seven municipalities switch to a new water source
The supply of the Danube riparian municipalities will be solved by expanding capacity and modernising technology through the development of a new water supply base. As part of the project, in addition to the construction of 900 metres of backbone pipeline, a two-way pressure boosting to Venice and Kulcs will be implemented.
A total of 21 kilometres of new transmission lines will be built in the municipalities of Kulcs, Venice, Beloiannis and Besnyő.
Solar farm supplies the grid's electricity needs
Other elements of the development will include: the construction of new pressure boosting field machine houses and disinfection facilities, as well as the reconstruction of buses and sites in several municipalities.
The solar park being built will be able to supply the entire electricity needs of the water network.
Focus on water resource management
At the project's press launch event, V. Zsolt Németh, Minister of State for Water Utilities and Water Management of the Ministry of Energy, stressed that the focus of water management is shifting from water resources management to damage prevention and mitigation. He said that this year the country will spend around HUF 200 billion on the water sector, including around HUF 100 billion on reconstruction projects such as the one along the Danube. This investment could cost HUF 13 billion in Fejér county.
Development to be completed by the end of 2025
At the project opening event, Györgyi Bóta, CEO of DRV Zrt., highlighted that by the end of next year, the drinking water supply will be improved in 7 settlements in the region, where the water supply expansion and replacement became necessary because the currently used drinking water well was built decades ago, together with the structures serving it.
